General Information Sources and Guides:

• Visit London Offers : March sees the launch of the Go London campaign celebrating great value in London. There's something to suit all budgets in nightlife, accommodation, attractions and much more. There are currently 120 offers available in the following categories: Things to See and Do (34); Shopping (25); Eat, Drink and Party (27); Accommodation (22) and Travel (12). Visit London is the official visitor organisation for London (formerly known as London Tourist Board and Convention Bureau).

• London Guide : Lots of information for anybody planning a visit to London - from attractions for children, museums and galleries, tourist attractions and sightseeing, to sports and recreation, shopping, local events, restaurants, bars and theatre.

• ISE Cards and Hostels of Europe Cards. Save money with discounts on hotels, transportation, museums and more all over the world. The International Student Exchange ID Card is a discount card available to students of any age, faculty, and also to youth under 26 years of age. This card allows you to obtain discounts ranging from 10% to 50% on entrance fees to museums, castles, and palaces and, in some cases, grants you free admittance. You'll also qualify for the special student rates and discounts offered by hotels, restaurants, shops, language, schools, theaters, concerts, operas, cinemas, recreational facilities, rentals (auto, motorcycle, and bicycle), bus routes, boat routes, railroads, and selected European airlines. The ISE CARD also provides you with important protection while abroad. Once you become a member, you will be provided with a phone number you can call from anywhere in the world - 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, to assist with lost passports, travel documents, or legal problems. Emergency cash can also be sent to you abroad. The seperate Hostels of Europe Card gives you accommodation discounts (5% to 15%) at over 300 Quality Independent Hostels in Europe.

• London Free List. London Free List is an excellent new site which lists all the events and attractions in London that you don't need much money to go to. They are all either free or cost no more than £3 maximum. Over 1500 entries are listed and the site is updated daily.

• BBC London. The latest News, Travel, Weather, Photo Galleries, Sport and Entertainment from the BBC.

• Thomas Cook/ Days Out UK - Free Discount Vouchers for attractions. This comprehensive site allows you to search for information relating to thousands of attractions and events, plus you have access to over 500 discount vouchers! There's something for everyone, kids go free, adults go free, or money off entrance fees to museums, theme parks, zoos, historic houses, castles and gardens all over the UK. To use the vouchers, just print them out and take them with you when you visit.

• Dooyoo - Consumer reviews of London restaurants, pubs, hotels and attractions. This is a UK consumer site, where you can read people's opinions on London - everything from the best restaurants; bars; pubs and places to stay; to the best attractions and sights; museums and galleries; theatres & operas; cinemas; musicals; internet cafes; festivals & events; nightlife; parks and gardens; shops; markets; advice on getting around London by bus or tube and more! A brilliant idea and very useful for anybody intending to visit London or living in London. You can even become a member (it's free) and add your own opinions! Highly recommended.

• The 24 Hour Museum. A UK gateway to museums, galleries and heritage attractions. It is quality controlled which means that only museums and galleries registered with the Museums & Galleries Commission, or non-profit making galleries, historic houses and heritage attractions are included on this site. Highly recommended.

• European Events Guide: Discover what's on in London and the rest of the UK as well as in other European cities. Offers online booking for West End theatre; and the London Big Bus open bus tour; as well as information and ticket prices for events and attractions including Ascot races; the BA London Eye; the Tower of London and the Cutty Sark in Greenwich.

• Eurostar - Breakfast in London and Lunch in Paris: Fast train travel between London and Paris or Brussels on Eurostar as well as rail passes for the UK and the rest of Europe.

• Time Out London Guide. Excellent, highly recommended online City Guide from the listings magazine and guidebook publishers.

• Time Out London Student Guide. Again - superb, especially for those on a small budget! Cheap eats and shops.

  London Concerts and London Theatre:

  Travel Tip: Try the Half Price Ticket Booth in Leicester Square (run by the Society of London Theatres), where tickets for many West End shows are available on the day of the performance at half price (cash only) plus a small service charge. Tickets are limited to 4 per person and the booth is open from Monday to Saturday from noon for afternoon shows and from 2:30 for evening shows. Early arrival is recommended. Those with student cards can also sometimes get standby tickets direct from theatres before a performance. You are strongly advised not to buy tickets from touts - either outside the booth or outside theatres.

• European Events Guide Offers an events guide and online booking for London West End Theatre tickets. Currently you can book theatre tickets online for the Lion King; Mamma Mia; Chicago the Musical; Reduced Shakespeare Company and other popular shows.

• London tickets on eBay UK - can be a good place for hard to find tickets and sold out concerts - register free to buy or sell online.

• Theatre Monkey A very useful and informative guide which reviews London's West End Theatres; Concert Venues and Shows. Information on the best / worst seats in each theatre are highlighted on seating plans and the site includes tips on getting good value from theatregoing as well as public reviews of shows.

  Travel Tip: Travelcards are valid on London tubes, buses and trains and are available from underground stations.
